Olive and Mabel | Bighorn Mountains Dog Photography Session

A Summer Dog Photography Session in the Bighorn Mountains, Wyoming

There are sessions that feel like photographs…
and then there are sessions that feel like memories unfolding in real time.

Olive and Mabel’s session in the Bighorn Mountains was the latter.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had stepped into something untouched. Our backdrop included rolling fields painted with wildflowers in full bloom, soft mountain air, and towering pines standing quietly in the background. It was the kind of setting that doesn’t need much direction. You just let it exist.. and step into it.

Cassie and Phil joined their girls for this adventure, and what unfolded was less of a “session” and more of an evening spent exactly as it should be: together, exploring, laughing and letting Olive and Mabel simply be dogs.

Wildflower Fields & Mountain Backdrops

We started in an open field, where the wildflowers stretched endlessly around us. Olive and Mabel wove their way through the blooms, occasionally stopping to check in with their people, tails wagging, eyes bright.

We made sure to capture a beautiful mix of imagery throughout this portion of the session: individual portraits of each girl, highlighting their unique personalities, as well as plenty of images of them together. As sisters, their bond is undeniable. There’s a quiet familiarity between them.

And truly, these girls were absolute models.

They posed so naturally when needed, giving us those timeless, frame-worthy images… and then just as easily shifted into playful, candid moments.

River Adventures & Candid Dog Photography Moments

We ended the evening by the river.

Olive and Mabel wasted no time showing off their water skills.

This is where their personalities really came alive. The action, the splashes, the joy. It all unfolded so effortlessly.

Dogs & Their Humans | Capturing Connection Through Pet Photography

Throughout the entire session, we were intentional about documenting not just Olive and Mabel, but the connection they share with Cassie and Phil.

A blend of candid and gently guided moments allowed us to tell the full story of quiet interactions, playful laughter, and the kind of love that doesn’t need direction.

Because at the end of the day, these images aren’t just about what your dog looks like… they’re about what your life together feels like.

Wyoming Pet Photography That Tells Your Story

These are the moments I’ll always come back to:
the muddy paws, the wind in the grass, the way a dog looks at their person like they are their whole world.

Because at the end of it all, it’s never just about the photos.

It’s about preserving what it felt like to be there.

And this one?
This one felt like summer, freedom, and a love that runs deep and wild.

A session like this isn’t about perfect poses, it’s about preserving what your life with them feels like, right now.
